Re: Wally's Astromech

You know, one of those fold out arms could very easily be made to work. 8) And if you... oh lets say... put a cattle prod or something like that on there... well, no one will be robbing you anytime soon. : :angry2: My only concern is astromechs have been know to have quite the libido...I'...

Re: Wally's Astromech

[QUOTE=marvinrobot;35172]So I'm finally at a point where I went looking around for hoses. I know that the bronze hose is the ideal but I also saw folks use the brass hoses made by Watts. I was going to weather them using the same method as used for the bronze but I couldn't find anyone saying they h...

Re: Wally's Astromech

Awesome Wally! I'm completely jealous, as my R2 has been stalled out for months now. Did you scratch build, or buy the frame and legs? I looks to me like it might be and A&A setup? How about the dome? 300mm? And the detail parts, resin? What about the drive system? What kind of motors and contr...

Re: Wally's Astromech

Last night I got down to the nitty gritty of putting power in the dome. I know I wanted to do some sort of board to mount the battery but then I was lost as to how to do power distribution...well a trip to Auto Zone solved that: http://i456.photobucket.com/albums/qq281/TI7242/R2%20Build/dome/Insidet...

Re: Wally's Astromech

Front Logics done...I set it up with a second 12V battery just sitting on the top ring to get the pictures. I'm thinking on doing a board that attaches to the rockler with a smaller 12v battery attached to it so it doesn't impede the dome rotation. http://i456.photobucket.com/albums/qq281/TI7242/R2%...

Wally's Astromech

Well, I thought I had posted some pics previously but turns out I had not. So R2's almost done. Just a few more parts to go. He is fully mobile and talks. Last night I started the arduous process of soldering the LEDs for his dome onto the circuit boards...definitely not fun. R2 has officially enter...

So how would your parents feel about having about 20 house guests?
They might ask how we feel about living in tents in the backyard

Wally's Back

Hello all wanted to stop by and let you all know I'm lurking about. I've been spending some quality time with my family after my long absence over the summer. I'm not sure when I'll troop next but I will keep my eye out for events.
