"Trooping with a soundtrack"

"Trooping with a soundtrack" was what the Springfield Symphony's Tribute to John Williams on May 12 was being called afterwards.

The first part of the performance featured his well known music from Harry Potter, Superman, Indiana Jones, Jurassic Park, Jaws and E.T. to name a few. During the intermission, some of the "non-surprise" characters went out to the lobby to interact with the attendees for pictures, autographs and just general questions.

When the lights flashed to signal the end of the intermission, 501st, Rebel Legion and Fan Force members alike gathered backstage for the show. The lights dimmed and the conductor came out in a Jedi robe and started conducting the Opening song from Episode IV. Rebel soldiers were chased across the stage by Andy (TK-2166), Brandon (TK-3181) and Keith (ID 2197) in Josh's (TK1730) armor. They were caught and marched back across the stage.

Next was the Duel of Fates. About halfway through the song, 501st hopeful, Alex, came on-stage in full Darth Maul gear and roamed the stage like a caged tiger. Third was Anakin and Padme, the love song. Charley Norton (TK-6241) was dressed as padawan Anakin and walked across stage to meet Padme and then walked off the stage.

Fourth was the Battle of the Heroes where Norm (TI-2094) and Josh (TK-1730) fought on stage with lightsabers. Next was Princess Leia's theme where members of the Rebel Legion and Fan Force escorted Princess Leia across the stage.

After that, the Stormtroopers from earlier were accompanied by Boba Fett (a.k.a. Jeff BH-5333) this time. They surrounded the conductor and then, the breathing started. Out from the side, to a lot of gasps, awes and applause, marched Chris as Darth Vader. He marched to the podium. The conductor ran off and Vader started conducting the Imperial March for the song chosen from Episode V. A few other songs were played and enjoyed by everyone there. All-in-all it was an excellent troop, too bad the next one won't be for another three years.
