ROTS Darth Vader WIP

Post by Terry19d »

As some of you know and some don't, I've been working on putting together a Darth Vader from "Revenge of the Sith". Partially because the garrison doesn't have one yet, but mostly because I finally gave into the "demands" that some have been putting on me to undergo a Vader build, and I liked the looks of the ROTS version.

I still have some work to do, such as trimming the chest armor padding a bit more (as it's showing a little from beneath the armor's front), and figuring out how best to adjust the cape so that it stays in place better. Also, the cape may be somewhat too long - I didn't have any trouble walking, and it didn't snag on anything, but it just feels too long. I'm still missing the chest box & the shin armor, but I have lines on them both and will be picking them up ASAP. I'm also awaiting on a new cod piece, as the one I have doesn't look quite right.

I managed to have my height measured while suited up, and I stood at 6'7" without any internal lifts or extra sole added to the boots.

Just wanted to share what I have done so far on this project, and I'll definitely be posting up more pics as I work on shaping Vader up. So this is what the Dark Side feels like... :vader:

Apologies for the lack of updates. I've been working on the costume off and on while waiting for a couple of key pieces to arrive. Over the past week or so they showed up and have been added to the suit, and now Lord Darth "NOOOOOOO!" Vader is now more-or-less complete!

This costume is going to be making its debut appearance tomorrow at the Kansas City Zoo's Hoots & Howl event. Before that happens, however, I need to install the fans. Fans are a must. Will expire without fans.

I've already snagged a groupie, too:

My 4-year-old nephew Cole loves Darth Vader even better than the clone (which was his previous favorite). I hope to take some approval pics soon so Vader will be official. Thanks to everyone here who has given me tips and been supportive as I put this costume together!

I have a ROTS helm, so I think I can help answer that for you.

Yes the faceplate is very similiar to the ESB/ROTJ faceplates. The major differences are the lenses, ducts below the eyes, the paint scheme, and the lower portion of the mask.

As far as minor differences, there is talk that the notches on the nasal are different and the shape of the eye slots are different, but I havent seen much evidence of either.

Hope this helps.
