If you haven’t seen it yet and you haven't read the comic book there is something you need to understand you are either going to love it and want to see it again, or hate it and walk out halfway through it. This is not a review so there are no spoilers here. This is an informative thread.
First off Watchmen was the first real graphic novel emphasis on graphic. The movie is rated R for a reason, violence, language, sexual content and nudity were in the novel and so there are on screen as well. It stays pretty true to the novel (unlike other movies). If you liked 300 you might not have liked it as much if they had done it exactly like the novel. The 300 Spartans would have been completely naked and the movie would have only been 45 min long.
Do not take your kids to see watchmen the few people who did in our theater were removed with in the first hour. This is not a superhero movie this isn’t superman or spider-man where the “heroes” are good people. It’s a very very dark movie. I’m not poo pooing the movie I’m just letting you know you must understand these things before you deside to buy a movie ticket. I personally liked it you may not.

Well put, Josh. You hit the nail on the head. I enjoyed the movie greatly, but it's definitely a very different take on superheros.
