What am I getting myself into??

Post by Dinadin TK-5972 »

I have always been interested military history and World War 2 in particular. Mostly because of my Grandfather who served in Europe during the war. Anyway back to my point I have decided to get into the restoration of military vehicles and I am starting off big. Last Saturday I bought my first vehicle, a WW2 halftrack. Yes, I know it is going to be a LONG term project, but I have a lot people who are willing help me. Eventually I want to get a WW2 jeep and restore that also. I intend to use them from parades, reenactments and paintball games. I have set up a website to show off my efforts, if anyone is interested. As of right now it is really primitive.

WOW! You are asking for a challange there. I know how tough it is to find parts for my 42 year old Buick. I can't even imagine how hard it will be to find parts for that. :D You keeping that in the drivway?

Good luck, Rich.

There are several WW2 re-enactment groups in Missouri. They do alot of vehicle restoration. I would get in touch with those guys and they can probably give you some help with parts and procedures.

I have some links to some web-sites, I will see if I can find them and forward them too you.

We need to get you down to Topeka for some vehicle builds. Right now we're in the middle of an AT-RT build... 8)

Thanks for the support everyone. I have updated the website and added several pictures.

Curt - Once I get it here it will be at my friend's house while we work on it. By the time we are done I hope to have a house and most likely I will keep it there.

Cblackthorne - Thanks that info would be appreciated, I know of the 2nd Rangers who are based in St. Louis, but I haven't contacted them yet.

Judge_Hellfast - I don't know how much help I would be with that right now. Maybe once I have been working on this for a bit. My friend whose house we are during this at is a fabricator for building his rock crawling jeeps. Maybe once I have been working with him for awhile I might be more useful. :)
