God, I wish I was snowed in. I just spent 12 hours on those crappy roads.

We got about 5-6 inches of snow here with a bit of ice underneath so we were out of school today. We're off from school tomorrow too due to the windchills and slick side streets. Gah, we'll be going to school now until June... yes, I'm a teacher..

I went to school for my 9:00 class then at 10;30 word stared to go around that the campus was closing at 12:30 so I just went ahead and left. It was a good thing to because even then I couldn't get all the way home I hade to park just outside our little culdisac thingy and walk the rest of the way. All 200 yards of it. They haden't plowed our roads yet so me in my little california truck went doing so hot going up this little hill, even with 240 pounds of sand in the back+snow. I tried like a half a dozen times and then just gave up. Do you people go through this every winter??

Nah this is a mild one, usually it is much worse.

Just Kidding......
For the last 4 or 5 years it has been fairly mild and we have been lucky to get one snow storm like this over the whole season. The same goes for this cold spell. This is longest and worst cold spell we have had in 5 years. They said the river ice on the Mississippi and Missouri are the worst in 5 years. It has been a long time since I have seen the Meramac ice up like it has been.

For the record I decided to take today off again.

Megan,

This winter is definately more severe than we normally get. Its usually cold and wet, but not this cold and we usually dont get this much snow.

The last time I remember it being like this was '96 or '97. I remember because I almost got frostbite directing traffic around alot accidents in sub-zero temperatures.

I moved here from New Mexico, so I much preferred the winters there. :)

Hell this is nothing to what I have seen and been through, you all in the KC area remember the '01 ice storm I'm sure?? We were out of power for 4 days and the electric company I work for now said they had people off for 3+ weeks so this isn't the worst we have had, as far as severity, but this time it has stayed cold for a long time and snowed alot this year compared to the norm. Although I can remember one december driving home from the city with the windows down it was so hot outside... yeah its missouri got to love it.

I used the snowy day to get a new car. Dealers will deal when they don't have any other customers coming in all day. :D
