* Accidentally posted in Tips and Tutorials*

Well now that I've had the surgery and gone through enough Physical Therapy ..............I've gotten back to work on the armor.

Today I bonded the side gap plate to the AB and Back plates (pics on myspace page)
and started the Thermal Detonator .

Since I missed VisionCon, I'm shooting for Comic Con in KC.........weather permitting.

Okay I've made some progress on my TK.

Side gap panels are installed between AB/ Backplate, finished the belt ( the wrap around is out of ABS.....I'm not a seamstress ) Then I looked at Hellfast's fake or faux strap between the Chest and Upper back, and did the same thing, it fits much better than I had it originally, and attached the shoulder bell straps to the faux strap. I also bought a hobby iron today, but I confess, I'm a bit nervous about trying to put a slight return on the bottom of the shoulder bells. I'm just not that confident I can do it evenly. I also broke down and bought a heat gun, I figure I need it for the TK, since the thighs are oval rather than round...................and I am on the list to get RC armor, so I'll use it in the future I'm sure. I figure if nothing else I can make up a "fix it kit" that has anything I can think of, including the heat gun and hobby iron...............that way if I or anyone else has some sort of wardrobe malfunction, there is stuff to get it back together again.

all the pics are again on the myspace album under TK Armor Build.

I want to get a hobby iron myself. It's definitely a great asset for clone costumers due to all the lips and such on the armor and getting it to match up together.

The Hobby Iron I got was $19.99, and has the variable heat settings. It kinda fixed my little mishap, when my knee gave out and I dropped the heat gun on my thigh armor. It's still a little warped, but I think unless you get down and look at it up close you won't be able to tell. At least until I can replace the thigh armor anyway. :paranoid:

I have put together and ripped this armor apart so many times, I feel like I've built 2 sets already. But the Upper chest and back fit better now, and adding the side gap panels, I like much better than just having black elastic linking them together. I ripped the bucket apart, and redid it.......and hence the new photos of the bucket with all the Bondo.

But good experience for when my name comes up on the Republic Commando armor...........I'll be a veteran at armor building! :)
Hopefully I can at least come up for a day to Comic Con in KC, but not sure yet.

It would be great if you could make it out for Comic Con. This would be a gold mine of information for you to take back with you as everyone has a little tip and trick that makes armor go together nicely.

Nice job on the suit so far, Kerry - ori'jate! The FX is an all-round good suit to use. I've had mine for over a year now and it never let me down...except once, during a parade, but a mod has since fixed that little issue. I'm in the middle of putting together an RT-Mod suit right now, not so much because of its looks but because it fits me better with fewer alterations needed. The simpler I can keep things, the better!

Tandy Leather would be a good place to get clips for your TD - http://www.tandyleatherfactory.com. I have #1238-00 for my current TD, and am ordering #1240-00 for my new one. Also, if you go to the FISD (link is in my sig), you can find someone selling what looks like a good fan solution for your bucket. You can also just go to a computer store and pick up fans, as well.

I hope you can make it out to KC for the con. :)

More and more each day.....The boots should arrive Monday, the mic.speaker set sometime next week...and then I do believe it's time to send the pics to FINALLY become official!

Alot of the pics of the progress to this point are on my myspace page (given @ the bottom) as the pics I actually posted on here, I had to email to a buddy, have them reduced before I can repost them.

I think I have done fairly well considering I had no instructions to follow......just had logic, pics and tips from everyone on here! So a huge Thank You to everyone.

Comic Con is definately on my list the end of next month, so barring anything major, I should be able to make it.
