70th Explorers At Planet Comicon

Lord Vader dispatched troops to the Hoth-like environment at this year's Kansas City Planet Comicon, held March 28-29, 2009. Over 50 troopers attended this growing event. The Star Wars guests at this year's convention were Peter Mayhew and Tom Kane. The 70th Explorers Garrison had the honor of inducting local Star Wars voice actor Tom Kane as an honorary member of the 501st Legion. Mr. Kane was presented with an engraved plaque, an honorary member badge, and a 70th Explorers garrison t-shirt. Mr. Mayhew was also presented with our t-shirt.
The 70th Explorers were well received by everyone and the convention organizer remarked how much the 501st brought to the convention with the movie quality costumes. A big thank you goes out to all of the garrison members who attended this successful event as well as our friends from the Central Garrison who made the trip down. See you next year!
