On April 2, 2009, Del Rey author and honorary member of the 501st, Aaron Allston, underwent quadruple bypass surgery. Aaron was on tour, promoting his latest book Star Wars: Fate of the Jedi: Outcast when he suffered a heart attack and was admitted to a hospital in Texas. He is currently in intensive care, but stable. Many of the 70th Explorers and the Rebel Legion trooped at a Borders in KC on March 26, 2009 with Aaron on this tour. Our thoughts are with him.

Aaron’s family has set up a blood donation sponsorship. If anyone in the Dallas area would like to donate blood, you can go to the National Blood Exchange or Carter BloodCare. Say that you are donating blood for Aaron Allston, patient of Carter Blood Care in Bedford, TX, and give his sponsor number: SPON 047786.

Please send any well-wishes to:

Aaron Allston
c/o Del Rey Books
1745 Broadway
New York, NY 10019

But please DO NOT send any perishable items or flowers, as Aaron will not be able to receive anything this week.

That's terrible news about the heart attack; last Sunday I read that he had gotten sick and cancelled some tour stops after KC, but had no idea it was that bad.

Was anyone else reminded about Kenny Baker falling ill shortlly after being in KC about this time last year too? Take your Airborne before you come to stuff up here for/around Planet Comicon and take care of yourselves!

Yeah, Bart, that very thought occurred to me, as well.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Aaron and his family for a swift recovery.

Here is an update site the family is using for Aaron. They have been overwhelmed (in a good way) with the loving support, and decided it would be easier to have all the new information on one site.
