Information for Tie Pilot Costume

Post by sschadster »

I am looking to expand my costume line to a Tie Pilot and noticed that parts are hard to find via Ebay, Internet, etc... Any fellow Tie Pilots have any tips for me on where to get parts including a good helmet? Any thoughts on the Don Post version vs the Rubies?

I want to expand to a backup up costume since Maul takes me so long to put on. If there is an event where I don't have time to do Maul, I could use the backup so I will still be able to attend an event.

Any feedback putting this costume together would be great. Thank you.

I like the Rubies helmet. Sure there are some mods to do, but they are not too hard. They are cheap to buy and they are not as big as the other fiberglass ones which look a little odd when on a trooper. I got my armor parts from the guy out of Norman Oklahoma. Richie's Armor. Not real thick plastic for the chest and back pieces so don't get to crazy with them or they can split. I do like the Tie though.

Hit the RPF and the Jolly Rogers Detachment. There are a few folks who offer gear at those two sites. In fact, I believe SGTFANG had a great deal on all the tie armor not too long ago.

My wife got all her TIE armor by talking to the folks at the Jolly Roger squad and the Omega Wing site.

Thank you for the feedback so far. I have been doing a lot of research from the leads you have given me. Does anyone know if the Don Post Version is 501st approved?
