Pre Fab Bucket Mods

Post by TrooperKerry »

I have spent time reading thru the tips amd suggestions..........I like to try and be as prepared as possible.

I did note that the biggest mod was to add the flat lenses vs the bubble that come with the kits, so I purchased those today, so that I have them while the bucket is still in 2 basic pieces. I figure its easier to put in the flat lenses while it's easily accessible.

Are there any other mods that are suggested prior to joining the bucket together?

It looks as if the amp/mic is something fairly easy to install afterwards, but please feel free to tell me about your experiences!

I painted mine black on the inside after it was assembled. Kinda wished now that i had done it before.

The flat lenses are best installed with thin strips of velcro around the edges. This allows for easy replacement if they get scratched, easy cleaning, and it lets in a little extra air to prevent fogging.

Also, I have found that hot gluing the lenses makes for a difficult repair when one falls out during a hot troop when in-helmet temperatures reach nearly 6000 degrees. The velcro holds better. (industrial, of course.)

also, you will not regret painting the interior black.

Thanks guys, I hadn't even thought of painting the inside of the bucket, but now it's on the list of to do's!

And great tip for the velcro of the lenses! I have industrial velcro on my list of things to purchase, since I knew I would need it for the armor.

Keep the tips coming if you have any!
