Dr. Doom - FINISHED!!!

Hello,

I can now begin my newest project, Dr. Doom. The mask arrived today made by 4th Wall Design from the RPF forums.

With this project my first plan is to modify some existing 15th century plate armor to Doom's style of armor, which means the armor will be entirely 14/16 gauge stainless steel.

I will have to make a set of sabatons from scratch, since I dont currently have any but the rest of the armor pieces I have in my inventory.

Wish me luck!

"Luck?" Doom has no need of such trivialities!

What a great new project to embark upon. Looking forward to the progression!

There was a Doom at Dragon Con that was pretty spectacular. I'll have pics of him up as soon as I can start uploading pics.

For uniforms and equipment, I use the following websites:

www.atthefront.com

www.hessenantique.com

www.landser.com

www.ima-usa.com

Some stuff is made in China and is "farby" so the really cheap stuff is not always 100% accurate. This is one hobby where cutting corners to save a few bucks just doesnt make it. They prefer you be accurate or find another hobby.

In fact, at every HRS event, they have a "Safety and Authenticity" inspection before the tactical. If you are unsafe or have inaccurate gear/uniform they will actually tell you to step off the field and fix it or go home. Hair cuts and facial hair are big ones. Length of hair and facial hair must conform to military standards for the time, no exceptions.

You can expect to spend around $1000 for a full uniform and field gear including a rifle.

Please let me know if you need more help.

Regards,
Chris

Progress Report:

I have almost finished the gauntlets. I copied a set of late period medieval finger gauntlets and vacuum formed these:

I have also built a set of sabatons:

The arms are almost complete:

Completion looks promising for Planet ComicCon.
