So far everything is coming together and I'm on target for Comicon. I'm now up to 17 lbs. (That includes the receiver / upper handle pieces.)

I had to add file down the sides of screw that mounts into the drill. It was slipping and causing the barrels not to function.

I've got the trigger added, the end plate mounted, and the end mount pieces mounted. (The tape is just holding them in place while the glue dries.)

The "trigger" is mounted in the handle.

I decided to make the battery compartment (paint cans) look less like paint cans. I've added a washer to the end and will have foam strips placed along the sides.

I'm watching over your shoulder, Dave. This is similar to what we'll be doing for the War Machine build. Nicely done and coming together swimmingly.

Chris, I can't wait to see War Machine. For the mini-gun, I do suggest a high RPM motor.

Faron, hopefully I'm done before Comicon.

Update:

I'm finishing the detailing of the receiver and waiting for the putty to dry. However, I added the coil to the barrels. I used the lid that came with the bondo to mount the "coil" into place. Towards the business end, I used a thin circle piece of wood (craft board from Hobby Lobby @ .79 cents) to secure it in place. The actually Z-6 just has the open hole, but I've got an idea for that. :)

Here's the battery compartment paint cans. A large washer is on the end piece, while a smaller washer is on the lid. Eight pieces of foam wrap about the outside.

I'll be sanding tomorrow night. Then I hope to apply the primer.

Seriously, how does a brand new full can of primer not work. Anyone? Well, that's been the story tonight. :frustrated:

Of course to paint it, I had to disassemble the whole thing. I'm working with what little primer we have around the house now and running into issues with it covering the wood circles. Anyway, it's all a matter of getting more primer (tomorrow), waiting for it to dry, sanding as necessary, then painting the final coat, and then putting it back together.

Hopefully, late tomorrow night, I'll be finished. I should have taken time off from work...

Finished!!!

Well, it's ready for public presentation. Currently, its only 98 % finished. I still have to install the drill and other electronics. So, that means it won't spin this weekend at Comicon. I've been working on it since I got home at 5:30 pm-ish.

Here's my new Z-6 (taken with my cell phone):
