I'm really interested in what they're planning for Ep 7. Is it going to be Lucas's original idea set 20-30 years after or something closer to the books. They could do Thrawn or the Yuuzhan Vong series! Granted, 20+ books in Yuuzhan Vong so they'd have to REALLY consolidate that.

I think the entire expanded universe is about to become non-canon. :(

I would be nice if they included some of the characters... Mara Jade, Thrawn, the kids... but from a business standpoint, that's a lot of extra royalties they have to pay to a bunch of authors now.

I'll be following this closely as well. I've read every book that takes place after Return of the Jedi and would hate for them to mess up what I consider "canon." But I suppose our fate is in their hands.

Post ROTJ EU is toast... Lucas always said it was fair game if he decided to make more movies, and he did it to Travis's Mando with the Clone Wars already... Like he's done before (not just on Clone Wars, but with Coruscant itself), we'll get some characters, locations etc. borrowed from EU but fit into HIS version of the story, regardless of what we have. What we'll get is like the 'multiverse cannon' of the Trek novels.

Yeah, that was just one of the things I liked about the Star Wars novels. They co-existed with each other a lot better than the Trek novels ever did.

According to this,
http://spinoff.comicbookresources.com/2 ... port-says/
The new trilogy will be something completely new and never seen in print....

Hmmm it is after all a HUGE universe out there, it will be interesting to see what they come up with....
