Has any one ever tried making rank badges from aluminum and tinted acrylic from usplastics?

I am thinking about using part number 44445 and 44447 and then using a jig saw to cut and polish with a dremel.

Has anybody tried this?

I am willing to try if nobody has but if somebody tried it and it didn't work please let me know.
