The bucket has arrived!

Post by DTR1 »

And so the project begins. I just got the E3 bucket today and it went straight from the box to a bath.
I can't wait to get some paint on this thing! First things first, prep work. I don't want to get ahead of myself.
I will keep you all posted on my progress. I have done my research and I think I will be fine, but I am always open to helpful information.

Andy, should I be worried that Jon has a smile posted after his reply?
He's making me nervous. :paranoid:

I'm not so sure about this? Can't we just grease my head down with Crisco and tap it on with a rubber mallet? I may cry a little less than seeing Jon " The Butcher " Jones go to town on my bucket.

At least I have my shoes to start on. I picked them up the other day. $18. bucks at Wallmart. They look just like the Nike Airforce ones, but without the big price tag. Got some good wip photos for ref. I just need to pick up the Leather. I have the goo and the knife.

Up to date progress. I had some help with the visor and mouth and the rest was trimmed out, filed down and sanded.

First I cut out what excess I could around the inside of the base and removed about 1/8th of an inch around the back. Wow what a difference that made for space. Then I smooth sanded it.

Then I marked all of the imperfections that needed filling. There were not many. The casting that I got was outstanding. Never the less I am a perfectionist so I did a little work.

Image

The bondo instalation! Like I said not much to do.

Image

After sanding with 400grt and cleaning out small stuff with an exacto knife. Another cover with bondo and a good sanding and I should be ready for Primer and some wet sanding.

Image

Anyway that's where I'm at so far. I have my voice amp on order and my lense on order. I picked up my screen Material the other day. I think I have enough for a few hundred buckets.

Gloves are bought, I will post a pic later. I was able to find a full leather Gauntlet style for $14.00 close to home. They cover a good 3inch's past my wrist so they should do fine.
