Interesting that he says that since the detachments don't set the standards for memebrship and can't say what is required and what is not. They have put together CRLs for the Legion and these are then reviewed buy the LMO who takes their suggestions and decides what is included in the requirements for membership. The overlap is the way to go just because that's what looks right per the movies.

As far as helmets go, the EFX/MR helmets still need mods done to them to be accurate as well. There are troopers using them to troop without the mods but I'm not sure that they will work for membership straight out oif the box. That would be a good question for Ken.

Whatever you decide, don't skimp on the helmet as that's one of the first thing that somebody looks at on your costume. If the helmet is great, then people tend to not pay as much attention to the rest of the costume. If they helmet looks wrong, then it can throw the whole thing off. :)

I haven't talked to Paul about this detail, but I am wondering if what he meant by that statement was that having butt-joined seams was going to be required for the detachment's Expert Infantry requirements, and not a general requirement for all Legion TKs. It can be a little tricky doing the joining method because of the extra care needed to ensure that the pieces are cut right to match. I do like how it looks, though, and if I decide to pick up another TK suit in the future I'll be doing the seams this way.

Speaking from experience, there are two things on the MR/eFX helmets that you'll need to mod for membership. First, the stripes on the cheek tubes are too dark; nearly black. I recommend the blue decals from TrikToys. You can gently sand the existing decals off the helmet and easily apply the new blue decals. Super simple. Next, you'll want to replace the lenses which are a very transparent green. Your eyes can easily be seen through them. This is also done without too much trouble since the MR/eFX lenses are mounted in the helmet using screws.

Other than this, you might want to enhance the built-in padding for comfort. But the mics look great as does the rest of the helmet and they are terrific for trooping. I have two and love them both. Highly recommended!

Dang it! I just got my boots today from TKBoots and while they look amazing, I got them too big. I wear size 12 New Balance and it looks like these boots run a bit on the large side, I was afraid of this. Hopefully I can get a size 11 sent to me so I can check them out side by side, I even offered to pay for the second pair if he refunded me for one pair after I sent the other back. Seems fair if he wants to make sure I'm not trying to hose him.

Well either way I (almost) have my 2nd piece of the outfit! :grinno:

Would they be too big even with a Dr Scholls insert? The boots, although great, have no padding so I have found that my back starts hurting after a few hours on my feet in them. A back relief insert is advised. I wear size 11.5 in tennis shoes and found a size 12 TK boot to be perfect. Despite my back problems (which predate these boots) I can't over state how happy that I've been with my boots so far.

You know thats a really good idea. I should go buy a set of Dr. Scholls (however you spell it) and see how they fit then. When I put on two pairs of socks they were actually manageable, I was just thinking that my feet might REALLY sweat in the summer.

Another armor question - How many of you have modded your buckets with speakers/fans? It really doesn't look hard at all but just wanted to see how hard you guys thought it was.

As far as boots go, check out these.

http://tkboots.com

Cheaper and from what I have heard, much better than CA boots.

I just ordered a lite AM kit and bought No'l's (from FISD.com) MRCE modded helmet. I got him to come down a bit more on the price from what he posted. It looks great even with a few blemishes and now thats one less thing I need to worry about!

http://forum.whitearmor.net/index.php?showtopic=11937

No more games, I'm all in now!

I'm going to go pick up some inserts from the store for the boots (they are TK boots as you suggested Curt) and see how that works. I bet with socks + comfort inserts I'll be ok to keep the size 12's, especially since they fight alright with two pairs of socks.

Now the waiting game.....
