My DC15 Long build.
I have decided to have a go at the DC 15 Long rifle. I have looked on line and it seems that they can be rather expensive. So I have decided to build a few from scratch. So here we go!
I started at the front and I will work my way back.

Re: My DC15 Long build.
Indeed it looks fantastic (as all your work does). I can't wait to see how this turns out.
I would be concerned about the structural strength. The DC15 long can be hard to hold together without bending under it's own weight. You've got a lot of separations that could be weak points. I had wanted to make a new one that was hollowed out so I could put electronics into it, but I don't think I can do that without losing too much structural strength.
How long do you expect it to be when completed? I made mine approximately 55 inches and it's great when I'm out of armor, but it's hard to put to my shoulder when I'm in my armor.
Also, Are you going to add a stock onto it?

Re: My DC15 Long build.
More progress done. Need to do some sanding and detail work then primer and paint.
The majority of the blaster is pvc so it's weight is not bad. I have tested the strength and it's good. I can hold the hand grip and point it straight out with no flexing at all. so I think it will work out fine. I calculated all of my measurements from a shock trooper screen grab and the visual dictionary. So just as the photo, with the but of the stock resting on the floor the barrel tip comes to just under my chest line. So 54 inches from the tip of the barrel to the stock end. 55 inches from the tip to the stock end.

Re: My DC15 Long build.
As far as, a lot of separations that could be weak points. My blaster will not have any more separations than a Woodchuck Blaster as posted here. So I do not for see any problems. The entire front of the weapon is hollow. So that helps keep the weight down.
I have electronics for it. However I am undecided as to if I am going to be adding them at all. It would be nice for visual effect. I'm just not sure that they would be used much.

Re: My DC15 Long build.
Hand grips are installed and some sanding is done. I have completed the front of the barrel. Allot of detail work is being added right now. I will post up some more photos as soon as I can get some time to get them uploaded to my laptop.

That looks great. The detail bits are looking fantastic. It looks like you're going to put my work to shame... again.
I love the end of the barrel. The ring with spokes, is that part of the same PVC cap that goes over the bit behind it? Or did you assemble that from two different parts? I'm assuming the smaller ring in the center was added, along with the stripe-like bits and the loop underneath. I've got a very plain barrel end on mine. If I am aiming the gun at someone taking a picture then it is a prominent feature. I'd really like to make that more interesting on mine.

I think it was one piece? I will be making another so I will post some parts photos up next round.Culvan wrote:That looks great. The detail bits are looking fantastic. It looks like you're going to put my work to shame... again.

No shame intended everyone here has skills. I am just very detail crazy when it comes to this stuff. I am sure any number of people can point out things on my stuff that is not exactly as it should be. I enjoy trying to be as accurate as I can it's a way for me to challenge myself on my builds and in the end if I am happy with it then that's what really matters.

Re: My DC15 Long build.
I have some small details to put on before the second coat of primer . I have to add the screws in the grip, the detail tabs to the center rails on the middle frame and the detail circles on the main stock body. Other than that I am almost finished. I will add the canister to the o ring last.
