star fortress productions, are they any good?

Post by 32669 »

I'm looking to start a phase II clone trooper and stumbled upon this out fit. I would like to know if any one has used them, and are they any good?

Absolutely not! Just do a Google search on the place and you'll see...
Basically the guy fled the country for being a scumbag AND his costumes are crap.

You'll spend more money fixing them than buying them and his junk isn't cheap.

First...I'd start by registering at clonetroopers.net

They do have many, many, WIPs and build threads (mine included) that will help you get a foundation for what is involved in building the kits. In addition, there are for sale threads of people offering armor kits and the like.

Be advised, you will likely not find a "one shop fits all" source, as I got my kit from BTC, helmet from E3, straps and belt from SB, blaster from another source, had DTR1 make by boots, etc...

That being said...welcome!!

I agree. Before posting over there, make sure you read the posting guidelines on CT.net. They frown upon WTB in the general sections. You'll want to request access to the 501st area of the board, too.

You might keep in eye on the for sale section on the 501st Forum, too. Every now and then, there is a kit, suit, or clone item out there.

Good call Mr. W! WTB is allowed in the 501st section however. FWIW, both Dallas and I have Bozo The Clone suits, although Kev's suit seems to be the go-to now a days.

I agree with everything stated above with one exception. Not all of his costumes are crap. The armor for my TI is ALL Star Fortress and has held up great to almost 8 years of trooping with only minor modifications so he can do great work IF he wants to. Having said that I would still advise against ordering anything from him. His kits are pricey, his communication skills are non existent, it took 6 months to get my kit, he has a history of taking orders and customers receiving nothing for their money and since he is based overseas there is nothing they can do the recoup their losses and the most serious one to me anyway is he fled the country to escape criminal charges. If I had known all this before hand I never would have ordered no matter how much I like my kit.

I just wish I'd gotten the warning from someone back in 2004... just glad to help someone else avoid the pit of doom.
