Alright, I've got some paint touch ups to do, and of course mesh to insert, but the new helmet is basically done and I'm very happy I printed it. Here are a few shots next to the pepakura one that really highlight how much better the size, shape, and detail are for the new one. Can't wait to get some pictures of the whole outfit with the new bucket soon!

Thanks! The encouragement is much appreciated, as always. Continuing to chip away at the work I need to do to finish, I made some small but significant improvements to the boots. I attached the straps, tacking them down just behind the buckle so they won't slide down on me, and I put a strip around the sole to cover the edge of the vinyl and to give the proper lip to the sole and not have the boot itself appearing to overlap like it did.

Off the top of my head, I need to affix the new saber clip to the belt, put mesh and padding in the new helmet, add a red wire to my hilt, and just generally tidy up odds and ends of the sleeves. Once that's done, I think I'll pop it on for another round of pictures and see if folks think there are any major fixes to be made before I send in an app.  :)

Took some more shots of a test fitting tonight and I'm happy with most of it. My updated list of big goals for the outfit are

1. Lose 15-20 lbs because that belt is getting a bit too snug for my liking

2. Make a new, larger and better shaped gorget so I might be able to breathe in this thing

3. See if I can prevent the undershirt from peaking out from the tunic any time I move

I know the movie version shows the undershirt when he's doing a lot of movement too and having the cape on will generally hide it since it seems to happen more at the back for me, but it's still frustrating

There are some smaller improvements to be made as well, but if I can get those 3 figured out, I'll be happy

Okay, I don't have a TLJ update, but I'm excited and wanted to share that TFA is back on the table for a 501st app! I saw last week that Joann had a small amount of the Yaya Han basketweave back in stock online after being out for a while, so I snapped up a bolt while I had the chance. Looking forward to remaking my cheap upholstery fabric robes with this gorgeous stuff :)

I finally found some time to work on the new surcoat recently. I started from the pattern I originally came up with for my first attempt, widened and lengthened the skirt panels, eliminated the shoulder seam, and made the shoulders flare out a bit further. With some assistance, I got the length sorted out so I can now move on to hemming up the panels. One of my shoulders was a bit askew in the photos (due, I think, to the neck hole being too large) but that should be fairly easy to sort out as well.

I also finally purchased a black series saber (hooray for being a college grad and finally having disposable income), so I look forward to no longer needing to carefully crop facebook profile pictures to hide how ridiculous the disney store saber looks with my 6'3" frame :P

After far too long of a hiatus, the leaked IX promo art and my excitement for celebration in a couple weeks (the first one I'm attending!) inspired me to come back to my Kylos. I made a pleating board and pleated the canvas for a new and improved set of sleeves this weekend. I'm still deciding whether I want to get one of these outfits wearable in time for celebration, but hopefully I'll be back at it with much more regular progress from now on :)

Progress report time!I finally finished quilting the fabric for my new tunic last night, a long and tedious process that I hope to never do again but probably will. :P I also pressed the pleated sleeve fabric that I've had rolled up for a couple months and cut out my new sleeves. And finally, I stepped up my glove game with a fantastic pair from endor finders during their May the 4th sale. Next up will be adding the piping and zippers to my sleeves and working out a muslin mockup of the tunic. :)

You are ridiculously good at this. Building your own gloves? Crazy cool!

Thanks guys! I finally got around to finishing the sleeves today, piping them and adding a zipper. I also attached them to an undershirt, which I will now put another zipper into. I got a bit of bunching in the arm that I didn't notice before pics were taken, but in general I like how these fit and the tops wrapping further up the shoulder should finally solve my problem with the undershirt peeking out of the tunic :)

Thanks. I've been tinkering away again, this time on the TLJ tunic. It's still very much a work in progress in these shots, and I need to fix the zipper alignment, the hem depth, and finish the collar, but it's coming along.

I also finally sprung for some nice boots, crow props specifically, which should get here Ina couple weeks. At the moment, my goal is to finish all my TLJ soft parts revisions by the time the boots arrive. :)
