I have been trying to find a pattern for the Officer style hats and I have found several but I cannot seen to get the sizing right. I noticed a few of us here in the 70th wear these uniforms, So I was looking for some pointers (besides nostradamus or whoever from midewest garrison) on what exactly everyone here did or maybe even where you could just buy a hat I got the tunic pretty easily just got to modify the pattern a whole lotta little bit.

PM sent your way, bro. Vinicius has great information for ya.

You might ask CJ about the sizing of the hats as I think they come a tad bit smaller than normal.

Here is another resource for the uniforms - Kathy van Beuningen, the CO of the Midwest Garrison, has a great website about the Imperial Officer uniform located here:

I used kvanb's website and my imperial hat turned out perfect... if you need or would like some more help with it, just email me... my email is darkiejr@yahoo.com. my 501st pic is ID6720 if you wanna take a look at it.

I used Card board to make a pattern for the hat. Then transferred that onto the cloth with enough material for sewing. good luck...

I am looking to sew up one of the black trooper commander uniforms. I found the mccalls pattern for a dollar (I love joann's) its number is 7475. In looking at it I am going to need some help modifying it to make it work correctly. I see lots of sights talking about modifying the discontinued simplicity pattern (mostly very confusing). It seems like the directions are intented for a professional seemstress and not really aimed at the average user. Is there any pictorial guides that detail the modifications? I only have a dollar invested in the pattern so if I need a different pattern please let me know. Please feel free to email or contact me via instant messenger.

I would recommend consulting with the official 501st Legion Imperial Officer detachment. Their forums are located here:

http://officers.conforums.com/index.cgi

They are considered to be the experts in the costume and I'm sure they could answer any additional questions you might have. :)

I also messaged who I consider to be the expert in the imperial officer uniform, Kathy Van Beuningen of the Midwest Garrison, and she shared the following information about the imperial officer uniform:
An incredibly helpful resource is the Imperial Officers Detachment of
the 501st Legion.
More information on building the uniform itself can be found here:
http://officers.conforums.com/index.cgi
This is the 501st's Imperial Officers Corps forum.

Here's the current costume specs:

This is currently what the basic requirements are for building a 501st
Legion Membership quality Imperial Officer:

IMPERIAL OFFICER

An Imperial Officer must have the following:

Belt and Buckle:
- The belt should be constructed from a non-textured leather or a
leather-like material, approximately 2 inches in width (up to 3" is
acceptable)
- The buckle should be constructed from a flat aluminum type material 2" x
4" with rounded corners
- The center of the buckle must contain an Imperial issued disk or
"greeblie"*
- To the right of the buckle, a single large snap or rivet should be placed
on the belt that lines up with the Imperial Disk on the buckle
Boots:
- Black, non-textured, leather or leather-like in material, calf/knee height
, conservative heel, unlaced and non-buckled.
Trousers:
- Jodhpur (calvary) style; however, straight-legged trousers have been
deemed canon if worn with black, non-textured, conservative-heeled shoes
- The material for the trousers should match that of the tunic; the color
should also match the tunic except if the tunic is Cream/Off-White for
Intelligence Officers. In this case, black trousers would be worn.
Tunic:
- Black (Imperial Army), Cream/Off-White (Intelligence Officer), Field Grey
(Imperial Navy), Olive or Grey/Green (Imperial Navy), Red, or White fabric
which should be tended for making fine suits

- Closing of the front "flap" should be along the right side
- Olive (Gray/Green) color can be closely matched to DMC Floss #646 or Coats
& Clark "Smoke"
- The Grand Admiral's tunic (white with white trousers) is accompanied by
gold shoulder boards
Fabric:
- The fabric for constructing the tunic and pants should be type intended
for making fine suits. It should noted however that the fabric should not be
too thin, which would result in excess puckering and wrinkling
*Greeblie:
- Constructed from 3 silver metal rings each raised approximately 3 mm from
the other
- Ring #1 (base) approximately 24.5 mm
- Ring #2 (middle) approximately 18.9 mm
- Ring #3 (top) approximately 13.0 mm

Approved Options
If straight-legged pants are being worn, black non-textured, plain (no
elaborate lacing or buckles) dress shoes are acceptable

An Imperial Officer should have the following:
(These are recommended, but not required)

Code Cylinders:
- Radiation Dosimeters & RAF Pen lights were used in the film; however,
metal chalk holders can be used with the tops painted blue
Hat:
- Black or Olive (Gray/Green) in color
- Imperial issues disk positioned in the center, approximately 2/3 the way
up in height
Rank Bar (worn over left breast):
- Constructed from a thin, horizontally brushed aluminum sheet
- Bar dimensions: 1 1/8" height, length is determined by chosen rank
- Rank squares should be red, blue, or yellow in color, and should painting
be required, paint for stained glass
- Rank square dimensions: 1/2" width x 3/4" height; each square should be
spaced about 1/4" from the other
- Rank squares should also be constructed from a translucent, though not
opaque material including: lighted button covers, acrylic, Plexiglas
