70th Explorers Garrison: Forums

I’ve been working on this for the last few months and I wanted to show all of you the current status. I still need to work on the helmet, belt, minor glove modifications, minor adjustments to the knees, and shoe weathering. I might add a custom control pad to the left arm. In addition, I need to replace the Velcro on the right side chest plate, which came off during the first wearing.

Since we have one ARC in the group, I tried to keep the outfit somewhat similar. For example: the silver TK forearm. What can I say … Ken is my hero!

Please click on the below link and take a look. The pauldron (blue colored) and ammo pouches are finished, just not in the photo. The belt buckle, an Imperial Cog, just looked awesome and will probably be replaced. For the regular belt, I’m working with the smaller gray boxes.

Since my last post I've been working on the bucket. I've uploaded a picture of the 97% finished bucket to the above listed website. I had an issue with fitting it, so I could wear it with the armor. I'm adding a few more details this weekend.

I hope to have it at 100% this weekend.

I love the chipped paint style weathering on the armor. I may suggest putting some subtle smudges of weathering without the chipped style to break up the continuity of the continuos chipped paint style. It may be that you already have and it just doesn't show on pic, which seems to happen with subtle weathering techniques...the camera just doesn't pick that up because it is so subtle.

You may want to pad those shoulders just a tad to push them out and away from under your chest plate.

The belt looks a little out of place for some reason and I can't explain how...possibly a bit high on the hips, possibly?

The helmet came out great! Love it, love it, love it!! The fin on top may be a tad wide, but I don't think it's anything to be concerned with.

Overall critique...Fantastic job!!! You have a very battle worn clone and it looks really awesome and you should be very proud of it! Pat yourself on the back for a job well done, bro!!!! Good job!!!!

Belt is really high but I think that is due to your Kama. If you can lower that it will look much better. You should be able to see the button detail on the ab plate. I like the weathering. Looks cool. Add some black smudges to it and it will look even better. Like Judge said. Pad those shoulders up and it will make a big difference.

Well I have kind of missed getting my ARC completed by Halloween. However, I finally took some time away from work and my “honey do” list to work it. It’s not 100% yet, but I’m getting there just a few more upgrades.

New upgrades that aren’t pictured include an ROTS styled pauldron, an ROTS kama buckle, some armor detailing, and a lovely heavy blaster. Stay tune for more pictures.

I’ve run into a problem with the bucket, again. If the ROTS pauldron is on, I can’t wear the Kellogg’s bucket correctly. It sits sideways and I can’t get it low enough to see out of the visor. (You can see this in the picture on the left in my Phase 4: The fine-tuning section.) I have foam inserted in the dome. Does anyone have any thoughts on how to fix this one? (Right now, I'm thinking about just using my Rubies.)

When I fix the bucket issue, I only have to add the button detailing to the ab plate, insert the ROTS Kama buckle, and install the wiring for my “tail light.” I haven’t decided if I want to add the MP40 ammo pouch from my Phase 3: The Accessories photos.

That's one of the major problems with the Kellogs buckets...they're bulky and oversized. I'm not sure I have any real good suggestions for ya. I definitely would try to stay away from the Rubies if at all possible. Your Kellogs is definitely top notch compared to that Rubies bucket.

You may want to make sure your chest armor sits as low to your shoulders as possible. The other item may be to work with the lip around your neck area on the bucket. For my AT-RT bucket, I actually heated and rolled the bottom of the bucket a bit to take some height off the thing...if that makes any sense at all.

Okay, I was unable to fix the problem with the bucket.

However, I checked around on forums, etc and I finally found one.

I'm working on some modifications now and hope to be at 100 % by March.

I finally got the helmet painted to match the weathered armor.

I’ve got only a few small matters to finish: velcro on the pauldron’s left pad, dots on the ab plate, and the kama’s buckle. Other then that I’m done.
