Welcome to the all new 70thexplorers.com. If you're reading this, I'm sure you've noticed by now that the forums have a new color scheme (theme). Fear not, if you hate it and you want to go back to the old one, it's still there. All you need to do is click "Profile" above, and change your theme back to "Galaxia". Presto, you're back in black (and gray).

The rest of the new site is the product of about 2 months worth of work. The layout represents a desire to make the site look more in line with the national 501st site. The center image on the front page even rotates randomly through different members like theirs does (more later on how to submit your photo to be included in that).

Underneath it all is a new SQL database. The entire membership, all of our costumes, and all of our events are now stored in a database that is very easy for the command staff to update. It also makes it stupidly simple to sort. So if you're looking for a particular member, you can sort by last name, or TK#. Later on, I'll be adding features to sort by ZIP code, costume, and more.

All the events are now in a database as well. This means it's more important than before for you to fill out the Member Event Request Form http://70thexplorers.com/member_event_form.php if you have an event for the garrison, since that automatically adds it to the database. The CO and XO only have to click a link now to review your submitted events, and when they are ready, click a button to publish it on the web site. Also, upcoming events automatically move to the pictures page as soon as they are scheduled to end, making my job of keeping that up to date a bit easier.

There's more coming too. I plan to have individual profile pages for each member listing among other things, what events they have attended.

In the next few days, please let me know if you find any webiste bugs. I'm hoping that I've worked them all out in the last few weeks, but then I'm sure I haven't tested every possibility. If you find one, post about it here or email me at chris@tk394.com .

This looks great and you should pat yourself on the back for a job well done. It definitely shows that a lot of hard work and effort have been put forth. Two thumbs up on a job well done.

Since the launch of the new site I have had to log in almost every time I go into Forums. Each time I do, I always check the Log me in Automatically box, but that doesn't seem to work. Also, when I log in, the site makes me do it twice before it lets me into Forums. I never has this problem on the old site?

What's the deal?

Thanks,

me too

Hmmm.... odd. I have one theory, but i'm not sure. How does everyone get to the forums? Do you have a bookmark? Do you go to the main site first and then click the forum link? Also, look up at the address right now. Do you see a www in it?

I'm pretty sure I've figured this out. To make a long story short, I'm betting those of you that had the login issues usually typed the www in the address (or had it in your bookmark). I've made a change that will drop it from the address, like the old site used to. This should fix it. Let me know if anyone still has problems.

yep

It's hit or miss when it does it to me. I can go for a couple of days and not have it ask me but then out of the blue, I will have to enetr the info again. I had to login today and it has been all automatic for the last week.

is there a way we can get a veiw today's post option because if April logs in and checks the boards it doesn't show new posts to me. I have to log in twice when that happens too.

I'm not sure phpBB has the "View Today's Posts" option. I will do some searching to see if a mod exists to add that feature.
