Does anyone know how to attach a fan inside a robe without restricting air flow? The material is a robe/blanket type and is pretty thick. It is a computer size fan so probably a 3x3. Not sure if it needed to be attached to the person or the robe for the best cooling possiblity. Thanks for the help.

I highly doubt the CPU fan will do much good under a set of heavy robes. These types of fans are best utilized inside a bucket.

REDTROOPER actually utilizes a nice sized fan inside his royal guard robes. Due to the bulkiness of his costume, you can't tell he has it under all his robes.

The best alternative is to utilize a cooling vest, but these can be very expensive. My brother Mike actually built one for his Fett a while ago that utilizes refrigerant and tubing....works great and wasn't very expensive to assemble.

What robes are you working with...what costume? Depending on the costume, it may be easier just to get tough and gut the heat.

You gave me a perfect idea on the cooling vest. It will be for my son and he is 5. He wants to be a Jawa and I made the mask but I am waiting on the robe until I figure out a way to keep him cool inside. He wants to walk with us in the 4th of July parade here in Jeff City this year and he is so excited that I have to figure out a way to make it work without him passing out of heat exaustion. My mother in law sews so I will have her make some pouches we can strap on him to ice packs in. Thank you for the information.

On that topic, I found some nice linen material at JoAnns that would be good for the costume for your kids. It breathes well, so I dont think you would need any type of cooling system.

Karen wears a camel back under her jawa robes. She just fills it with ice before she starts and has cool water under her hood all day.


Its not perfect but its a nice inexpensive option.
