Greetings Everyone!

It is my pleasure to announce that one of our very own 70th Explorers members has been appointed and confirmed to a 501st Legion Officer position by the Legion Commanding Officer and Legion Council for the first time in garrison history.

Congratulations are in order to Rhonda Brown(TB-1165) on being appointed as this year's Legion Membership Officer. :rockin: She follows Thomas Spanos in this position and I know she will do a great job too.

I would like to ask that every member of our garrison offer Rhonda our support and assistance in any costume issues/ideas she might need input on. In addition to Rhonda's own expertise in costume quality and accuracy in following Legion standards, we also have experts in our own garrison who are active members of their detachments. I know that I can count on each and every one of you to help our new LMO in any way she might need us to.

Please join me in congratulating Rhonda on such a big honor for her and our garrison. Way to go, Rhonda. We're proud of you. :)

LMO is Legion Membership Officer. According to the 501st charter the LMO is:

The Legion Membership Officer (LMO) is responsible for receiving and processing applications for membership. In doing so, it becomes his/her responsibility to issue and track all identification numbers (i.e. 'TK' numbers), guaranteeing their uniqueness. The LMO uses the accompanying application photos to make a determination as to the initial qualifying costume as well as all subsequent requests for additional costume recognition and approval. This approval is based upon the official costume list and official visual reference guide. The LMO is the immediate supervisor to all Garrison Membership Liaisons (GMLs), and serves as the manager of the Legion GML forums. The LMO will conduct (via the GMLs) an annual census of the membership for the purpose of verifying contact information and costume status, and to make the appropriate status assessment and classification. The LMO will respond to initial membership inquiries and handle all issues where membership and/or costume status are concerned. He/she also reviews all applications for new Detachments, ensuring that the requirements are met, and that the costumes covered are well defined and do not infringe on existing costume Detachments.

OH!!! She's got those things running in her blood to make her have the FORCE!!!
Midi-chlorians (also spelled "midi-clorians" or "midichlorians") are a microorganism in the fictional Star Wars galaxy, first mentioned in the prequel trilogy. They are microscopic life-forms that reside within the cells of almost all living things and communicate with the Force. Midi-chlorians compose a collective consciousness and intelligence, forming links between everything living and the Force. They are symbionts with all other living things; that is, without them, life could not exist. The Jedi have learned how to listen to and coordinate the midi-chlorians. If they quiet their minds, they can hear the midi-chlorians speaking to them, telling them the will of the Force. In order to be a Jedi or a Sith, one must have a high concentration of midi-chlorians in one's cells.[1]

The word "midi-chlorian" appears to be a portmanteau of "mitochondrion" and "chloroplast", two organelles found in real cells and thought to have evolved from bacteria as endosymbionts inside other cells, as purported in the endosymbiotic theory. Creator George Lucas has indeed stated that the midi-chlorians are based on the endosymbiotic theory (Rolling Stone, June 2005), and it appears that in the story of Anakin Skywalker, he wanted to create a more modern "virgin birth" in the Star Wars saga that was as much based in "science" (albeit fictional) as in philosophy and religion, with the mythic "givers of life" being microscopic life-forms, rather than gods.

Thanks everyone! :)

It's quite an honor to be selected to serve the Legion in this capacity. The previous LMOs that I have worked with in the past have done a fantastic job and I plan on doing my best to continue their legacy of quality and accurate costuming. It's certainly going to be a busy year with lots to do but I'm up to the task. ;) I appreciate everyone's support and I'll be doing my best to make you all proud.
