Hey all i've been doing my research and I've found that a snap system is perferred for holding your tk armor together. What i've had trouble finding is a good diagram or explanation of where to place the snap. I know how to make the snaps thanks to SC and i'm assuming that they go where the velcro would normaly go but I was just looking for someone with experience with this. I was also hondering that to do with like the parts that are just 2 shells do I still do velcro or what? I'm hoping to get this done the best I can the first time so that I don't have to go through and upgrade as much in the future.

Snaps? We just use ducktape. I don't know, sorry.

As a rule of thumb you go 1 - 2 inches from the edge of the peice then put you armor on and have a freind measure from snap to snap. Cut the elastic to twice that length, fold in half to double it up and attach snaps.



You'll wan to stick with velcro for the bicep halves and things. I can send pics of my setup if you want or if you are in KC lemme know I can help you. It tok Kevin and I about 2-3 hours to put a snap system in his TK

When using velcro, remember to have the hook side of the velcro sticking away from your body. The soft side should point inward toward your body. This will help keep the hook side of the velcro from grabbing onto your undersuit and ripping it to shreds.

One other thing...get snaps from a leather supply store with longer stalks. the short stalked ones you get at walmart just don't work veryt well. Mrivory's pics look better than the ones I would take but if there is a specific part you need a better look at let me know and I'll shoot you a pic!

You're in Manhattan right? You could come to Mike's Armor party on the 19th in Topeka and I could help you there. It's kinda halfway in-between.

Unfortunatly i'm in Garden City which is on the opposite side of the state, but how often do you guys have armor parties?

armor party? I'm working on armor and need help (this weekend being the last I have to work before you-know-what comes out)!

I have learned that different fastners work on different parts better than others. Velcro on the forearms, calves, thighs. Holding the thighs up I use not snaps but the plastic clips, you know that you would attach to seperate ends of the elastic or nylon and then just clip them in, then push the button and it is off again. Quick and really realiable. I hot glue the recieving part on the armor. Some you can use super glue. I like the hot glue in case I want to replace or move something. Also the nice thing about the clips is that you can adjust them. Like for the length of the thigh or on the suspenders of the abdomen piece. I also us the super magnets along with velco. The magnet pulls the armor into the spot it is suppose to go and the velco holds it. Quick and easy. I can put pics or send some PM me.

I want way to hold some things together w/o velcro, that's strong but not permanent, that'd be two finished surfaces when apart.

Think the Armor would be too dense for the magnetic field to go through. I dont think it would pass through anything thicker than cloth. On some of my armor like my bicep to my shoulder bell, I used the snaps and just E6000(glue) the snaps together cause they dont need to come apart. works better and holds better than just glueing some elastic directly to the plastic.

The key when working with magnets is to see what the pull force is. Unfortunately the add for the magnets you have posted above don't show what the pull force is. Here is a site that shares with you the pull force of their magnets. Stronger the pull force, the more likely it will be higher in price, but the tougher it is to break their magnetic properties.

This little monster has a Pull Force: 20.35 lbs
