New Forum Software
This post is to inform you that the web team has recently upgraded the software powering our forums. With this upgrade, some problems may arise.
Some users might have their password reset. The suspected problem appears to be passwords that were under 6 characters in length. While we don't expect this to be a common problem, if you have trouble logging in, please read all error messages carefully. Requesting a new password is a simple, and automated process that you can complete by following the directions you receive from the website (and subsequent email). Once you receive your new password, activate it by clicking the link in the email, and then log in using the new password. After you have logged in successfully, feel free to change your password to something you can remember.
The other issue that the team has noticed is the lack of avatars. Avatars that were uploaded by the user no longer appear on the site (as opposed to those chosen from the supplied gallery, or those hosted elsewhere on the internet). While the web team is looking into fixing this issue, the simplest solution would be for affected users re-upload their avatars.
There are some minor cosmetic issues that will corrected over the next few days (or weeks?) as well. If you find something that you don't think has been addressed, please send a message to the Garrison Webmaster at gwm@70thexplorers.com . You can also send a private message on the forums to ' mrivorey '.

Re: New Forum Software
I'm sorry, but I've got to ask. in the 2 years I've been a member, the board has changed twice. both times I thought it was perfectly fine as it was. I'm a fan of "if it aint broke dont fix it" policy, which makes me beg the question - why?

Re: New Forum Software
90% of the reasoning behind the upgraded forum software is to keep up with the security updates. In fact, the forums have been upgraded more than twice in the past few years, as new versions became available. Unfortunately, this upgrade took us a full version number higher. That meant the previous theme was no longer compatible and we had to find a new one. We held off this upgrade until there were a larger selection of themes released, so we could find one that matched either 501st or 70th Explorers colors.
I apologize to those people that are frustrated with having to learn a new forum layout. Luckily, since this version number of the software is still fairly new, we should be using it for a very long time. And any upgrades we do have in the near future should be transparent to all of you.

Re: New Forum Software
Since the upgrade it always says I have 1 new Message at the top but I don't think I do. What's up with that?

Re: New Forum Software
Just to let everyone know, we are still having some issues with the permissions on the new forums. If you are having any problems accessing different threads, making posts, or any thing at all, please let Chris Moody (mrivorey) know.
Thanks for your patience through the transition.

Re: New Forum Software
I think it was a permissions issue. I've made a change and you should be able to create new topics now.
