Got a little work done on the clone today waiting for the wind to die down to paint bucket stands. Test fitted the shin armour with the shoes and discovered that a spoon removal will need to done after all. I can get the armour on just fine but I can't get the shoes on very well without removing the calf's. Oh well no big deal I have the material so I may as well use it right.

Trimed the back armour and the chest armour. I left a piece in when I cut out the chest plate for the shoulder straps and it works out great.

More progress forward on the clone armour. I have completed the fusion of the two thigh plates for the left and right leg.

Image

Image

I'm getting it all put together and then I will trim it up and get it in bondo.

My original plan was " NOT " to cut out the calf's in my shin armour. However that did not go as planed. I realized that after I put on the shin armour that I could not pull it up high enough to get to the snaps on my shoes. So the calf's had to go. I removed the spoons and did the calf conversion.

First I had to cut the calf out of my spares that I bought.

Image

Image

You have to cut them big so they can be attached in behind your armour your going to use.

Then above I cut two pieces that will be used as a tongue and groove sort of speak and glued them together.

Image

After cutting everything out this is what was left of my spare calf armour.

Image

Then I moved on to the assembled shin armour that I will be wearing. This was kind of nerve wracking because I did not want to mess it up. In the end it was fine. So I cut out the spoons just on the curve and removed the throw away part.

Image

After removal.

The two pieces that you will use in the end to make the conversion.

Image

Last but not least, what they look like put together. I have not installed the tongue and groove piece in the armour yet so there is a gap at the top.

Image

It will fit snug when they get installed. I will post more so you can see how they go together. I could use rare earth mags. on the bottom edges but I think I am going to use velcro instead to hold them in tight. I will also be making a mod. to my clone shoes in order to keep the shin and calf armour from rubbing threw my shoes. I will post that here as well when it is complete.

Thanks, more to come and good trooping to you all.

I got back to the main build today. I was able to get the ab plate assembled today. The but and spine assembly cut out and sanded. I constructed the snap brackets that are used to connect the butt and cod plate together. Along with trimming up the edges of the belt to clean it up for assembly.

First of the new year updated build information. Started to test fit the clone armor today. It's not easy to do by yourself. It fits ok for now. I am going to need to trim up the ab plate across the top and along the bottom. the cod was riding a bit low in the photo here.

Still a long way off from being done.

Well looks like I'm going to be home resting for a while. Back from the specialists office today. Diagnosis? Possible dislocated patella, torn meniscus along with a torn MCL and ACL. Not Good, Clone Down People!

Lookn awesome, bro! Sorry to hear about your injury. Hopefully you'll get back on track and get back to this awesome build. I really need to bust my kit out and start working on it. Unfortunately there's only soo much time and so many projects that one can do at once. I've got a project I'm currently immersed in and must get it finished up.

Thanks all. I am having my surgery on the 19th and then it's 4 months of recovery. It's not going to be easy so I will be living threw everyone else for some man cave time. Post some photos of any builds you may have to keep my morale up. Mr. Haze you may get your clone done before me at the speed I'm going. My down time on the clone will give me time to order some soft parts for a Vader. Yep I said it, a Vader. It is a requirement for the 501st to have two builds. :grinno: I think that's the story I will tell my wife. :D
