Re: I GOT IT! PIC HEAVY!
well this sucks to say, we think the black paint we used was old. So when we hit it with the white we used car paint so it would be durable and look awesome and it did but when we taped off and painted the stripe then removed the tape the paint peeled clean off the silver held the white held to the black but the black didn't hold to much of anything. So this pick is after a few minutes of simply peeling the paint off by hand. Super weathering anyone?

That's a bummer. At least you didn't paint tha armor yet and have the whole thing do that.

Re: I GOT IT! PIC HEAVY!
This sounds like a chemical reaction with the paint. Silver paint is a bitch to work with and trying to get it to play nice with other paints. Also, keep in mind...unless you're doing Gree or scout dudes, there's no silver paint chips on the clones, but if you want to use silver...that's cool.
Okay, now that's out of the way.
Here's how to make sure your paint is going to play nice with each other.
1. Wash the holy cruds out of your bucket with soap and water
2. Primer the bucket with a nice coating of primer.
3. Make sure your base paint will work with your primer coat. Go ahead and paint.
IMPORTANT:
4. Seal your bucket at this stage with a heavy coating of Clear Water Based Acrylic. (This not only seals your paints, but also allows any number of paints to be applied on top. This will also prevent paint from pealing as it did on your bucket.)
5. Next paint your details. Once those are done...hit it again with a nice coating of Clear Water Based Acrylic. This will lead you up to your weathering.
6. WEATHERING -I like to use the black wash technique. Why -Because I can always take it off and reweather if I want. I can go clean bucket or I can go dirty bucket. I'm not confined to only one style.
What I want to stress by my point is that WATER BASED ACRYLIC is a costumer's wet dream when it comes to painting. It's a total bummer that happened with your bucket and there is nothing more frustrating than something like that happening. I know you'll rock this thing out and I'm excited to see your upcoming results!!!!

Re: I GOT IT! PIC HEAVY!
Feerlessbleader said that the helmet is stripped and ready for paint that he will be doing today. i think he took it harder than I did that the paint didn't work
i think I will be going with a similar method of weathering as this
http://forum.clonetroopers.net/index.ph ... c=8112&hl=
I figured since he made my helmet he might have a good idea on what works.
I tried this method out on the t-visor piece I cut out and I works really well for me, I wanted to try the chipped paint method because I thought it looked cool but i think this will be better in the end
also i found these

Re: I GOT IT! PIC HEAVY!
fearlessbleader had gotten my helmet squared away and it looks great!
New problems, I cut down the foam in the knee at the top and bottom because of the foam was causing problems in the over lap with the shim and thigh pieces. i got my thighs done but they needed to be rounder than oval so I ,with the help of Brandon, reshaped them, but now I have to rebondo and sand them. I got my belt in and started building it. I got the chest and back plate assembled and I noticed the sholder straps were immediatly cracking and getting worse by the second. so I ordered the rubber straps which is something I knew I should have done in the first place. I attached the detail plate to the back and Brandon cut the coin slots in the chest. Sorry for the lack of pictures my camera was having issues but here are the pics of my helmet.
