Hasbro conversion #2
After helping Tk-9892 with a special project I found myself looking to try a new method of conversion on a hasbro bucket. So here it is after only a few hours of work. More work to come. I need to add some filler pieces and then do some bondo work.
Disassembling the hasbro:
That's it for now, more to come.

Re: Hasbro conversion #2
Conversion update for day three progress. This is not as hard as I thought it would be. I found a new product that is working out quite well to fill in all the gaps. It's called epoxy plasty and it works great.
I added the side vent covers to the back of the cheek plates here and added the ear modifications as well.
Some cutting did need to be done in order for the modifications to work.
The next step will be to bridge the gaps in order to hold the crown in place inside the bucket. Then fill in the seams in the top with the epoxy or bondo.
I will post more as It progresses.

Re: Hasbro conversion #2
Looks like some small bondo work will take place on the face and ears. After the glue has set I am seeing some imperfections starting to show. No worries it can be fixed. The top of the dome will be covered over with a skim coat of bodo as well. All in all it is going smooth. I will post more pics after some more progress has been made.
Tonight I placed a few small tabs in the inside of the dome in order to hold it in place and support the bucket.
Stay tuned!

More progress! I decided to go with the bondo on the dome because it covers allot more surface area and I figured it would give me a better foundation.
Thanks
Thanks

This is looking great. You seem to be hitting all the details. I'm very impressed with what you've done with the side vents. How have you reinforced it so that it doesn't split along the seam? Specifically at the clip that you have cut off.DTR1 wrote:Any feed back would be appreciated on what is done, needs to be done, or can be done?
Thanks
If you are looking for things that "can be done" I have a couple of ideas from when I was comparing the Hasbro to the screen. The neck ring makes for an impressive upgrade. There are some less-than-obvious other modifications I've never seen anyone undertake. The cheek details are slightly off on the hasbro helmet the rounded area at the bottom of the cheeks comes into the frown a little low. The vent area in the back at the bottom is supposed to be recessed, but it is slightly elevated.
Did you make the template for the visor area in a format that you could share? Even a picture with a couple of dimentions on it would work.

Re: Hasbro conversion #2
Sorry no the only possible way for me to share the temps. is to send them out and that would require reimbersment for postage and I don't want to do that at this time.
I have posted my progress in order to help anyone that would like to take on a conversion project. Really there is not much to tell. It's straight forward with the photos that I have posted and a little skill in sculpting will go a long way, if anyone decides to take it on. I'm looking forward to seeing what others do with this type of conversion.
Thanks

Re: Hasbro conversion #2
Did some more work on the Hasbro. I filled in the gaps behind the ear covers and filled in the check vents. I'm going to try and tackle the top of the mohawk today.

looks good! my only complaint is your pics make it look distorted. try the ol vader trick, 6ft from camera to helmet. looks great man!

It looked kind of funny to me as well until I looked down and noticed that I had a beer in my hand. LOL

New Update on the conversion project. Made the adjustments to the jaw line in order to get it more screen accurate. It needs a little more bondo on the left side and that's done then on to the dome again and the aerator. I have started the neck seal but no pics of it as of yet.
