Affordable voice amp for the solder-friendly
I promised a couple of the guys at Visioncon that I'd post this info here. It's the voice amp that several of the troopers here in Springfield are using. It's not too hard to build, if you can solder. The only problem I have with it is the feed back when I remove my helmet. (reflecting sound off of my chest plate, I assume) This could be solved by relocating my on/off button to a more reachable place, so that I can turn it off before removing my bucket. Anyway, here's the info! Feel free to ask questions, I've built 3 of these.
You'll need this:

Two of these:

And from Radio Shack...
Small guage wire (Red, Black, and Yellow)
9 Volt battery holder
3M mounting tape
Black Project box (2"x4"x1-1/4")
Knob for volume control
Soft touch On/Off button (red)

size
For those that saw the parts in the shoebox (with the roman candles), there was a lot of space that gets packed into a tiny tiny box.
Note that you need to ensure you get the correct size project box, mine was too big and I need to go exchange it.
I've seen and helped brandon build each one of the three and will help him build mine, and they are so simple that, well, I could do it.
When we do mine, I'll take lots of pictures for a tutorial to the bucket mod.

Re: size
That project box you had was big enough to mount a doorknob to it. Living under the "bigger is better" philosophy?standtrooper wrote:For those that saw the parts in the shoebox (with the roman candles), there was a lot of space that gets packed into a tiny tiny box.

And you never did tell me why the Roman candles were in there.

Hello,
Well, I have looked at this kit and Im afraid Im unable to put it together based on the instructions that are included.
Granted, Im not a electronics circuit board builder. Ive never done one before in my life, so thats probably my biggest problem.
Is there anyone in Springfield that has assembled one of these that can offer some assistance? Is there anyone willing to put the board together for a small fee?
Once I get the boards built, I can do all the rest myself.
Regards,

If anybody else plans on ordering any of this let me know. Their site says $10.00 min order, and I just want a few of the speakers. Even if I get 4 speakers (only need 1 for current costume), it would only be $4.00 plus shipping.
